About PGN Music

In 2020, the content creation community was hit hard by a wave of DMCA strikes and copyright claims that swept across platforms like YouTube, Twitch, and others. Countless creators saw hundreds of videos abruptly flagged, with advertising revenue redirected to the copyright holders of the music used. Twitch faced a similar fallout—only with more aggressive enforcement. Entire libraries of VODs were muted or removed. In response, streamers scrambled to purge their video archives, attempting to avoid claims on content that, in many cases, was five or more years old.

After struggling to find quality jazz that was safe for use, PGN Music began producing DMCA-free and NCS-compliant jazz specifically for content creators. What started as a simple solution quickly evolved—first into chill and lo-fi, then naturally into EDM, reflecting the personal tastes of creators like Jahlon, Wolfessmoon, and others who regularly rely on the PGN Music library. And just like that, a record label was born.

As PGN Music continues to grow, we aim to expand into additional genres. More importantly, as we collaborate with a broader network of creators, our goal is to deliver the custom music they truly need—whether that’s immersive Fantasy Tavern music like what The Golden Feather requested, or high-energy hard rock like what Grinning Jack needed for their content.

PGN Music does not oppose the DMCA or the wave of copyright claims that swept through the content creation world. These actions were both legal and justified. Copyright must be respected, and creators cannot enhance their work by using mainstream music without properly licensing it.

The issue arises when creators rely on tools specifically designed to prevent copyright claims, DMCA strikes, and VOD mutes—yet continue to face them. Take Soundtrack by Twitch, for example. It was a well-intentioned tool that gained widespread adoption among streamers. However, its license only covered live broadcasts—not VODs or uploaded content on platforms like YouTube. In today’s media landscape, where recorded content is often repurposed or used to promote live streams, that limitation made the tool largely ineffective.
